Terry Morgan, Teaching Assistant

Terry Morgan has been Dory's Teaching Assistant for 3 years and is currently enrolled in Sandra Ingerman's Two-Year Teacher Training Program beginning in 2012.

Terry has been in the alternative health and healing world since 1975 when she worked as a nutritionist.  She has been a well-known and accomplished massage therapist with a vibrant business and clientele. In 2010 Terry has begun incorporating her shamanic healing practice, and her work as an accompliished astrologer, into her daily practice with clients.   She blends these 3 disciplines in a unique and powerful way for the benefit of her delighted clients.

Terry loves music, is an awesome drummer, has played in a band called Funky Stella for the past ten years.  She studied African drumming with Inanna, a highly-acclaimed group of African drummers here in Maine.

Terry completed two years of apprenticeship studies with Dory Cote prior to moving into the role as Assistant.   In addition, because Terry is 100% committed to the work of shamanism, in 2010 she completed a year of extensive studies with Sandra Ingerman and plans to continue studying with other shamans around the world in the future.

I am delighted to have Terry at my side as I teach & welcome her and her powerful essence, intuitive nature and healing energy to our circles.

Starting in 2012 look for new and interesting workshop offerings co-led by Terry Morgan and Dory Cote.

Alexandra Conover, Wilderness Guide & Shamanic Tool Maker

Alexandra Conover is a legend in Maine. She has 30 years of experience in leading professional canoe and snowshoeing trips in Maine & Canada, including Labrador. Recently she was in Japan leading a canoeing experience and teaching the specific paddling technique for which she has become well known. As if that wasn't enough she also hand carves and finishes canoe paddles in the Native American design and tradition

Alexandra doesn't just lead people into the wilderness, she LIVES in the wilderness. She has lived on the Big Wilson Stream for over 20 years, with a majority of that time having been spent in a year-round tent.

Dory first heard about Alexandra when she viewed an airing of Bill Green's Maine in which Alexandra and her former husband, Garrett, were featured in their month-long snowshoeing expedition across Northern Maine.

It is not uncommon to find Alexandra in a tent in the dead of winter on her own Vision Quest.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the coveted Maine Conservation Award from the Natural Resources Council. She is an Honorary Director of the Friends of Baxter State Park and Governors and Legislators have sought her counsel on environmental impact issues in Maine.

Alexandra has been taught by Native American elders in the art of unique woodwork, including hand crafting canoe paddles which she teaches on a worldwide basis.  Also, she hand crafts shamanic drums, steaming the rims from local cedar and other woods.  The hides are her own and  have been harvested in an honorable and respectful manner using ceremony with each step.   She also makes hide rattles, medicine bags and other sacred objects, adorning them with feathers, bones and other energies that have been (again) personally gathered here in Maine and have been treated with respect and ceremony.

Go to the Marketplace on this website to see some of her unique objects and place your order for a custom made special object!

Spending time with Alexandra is like being immersed in natural culture and the simplicity of life. There is no rushing and no stress around her! She is a delight, brilliant, and truly humble. It is our honor to have her on our Faculty.

In addition to legally-sanctioned ceremonies, Susan has performed dozens of gay and lesbian marriage ceremonies (some of which are legally sanctioned in Massachusetts) and has experience and personal understanding of the depth and meaning of such ceremonies to those making a life-long commitment to one another.
