Program Full:  Applications for 2009 currently being accepted

ONE YEAR APPRENTICESHIP:

ADVANCED SHAMANISM & SHAMANIC HEALING

This program will meet six times over the course of a year.  Each program meets on a weekend and will have a well designed, but yet fluid, program which will expose the students to a variety of material crafted to give them a deeper understanding of the global shaman and the work of the shaman in modern society.  Numerous ancestral backgrounds will be introduced including somne of the work of the Sami shamans, the Celtic shamans and the African shamans.

The purpose of this course is to provide an exposure, and some practice, in a few of the ancient forms of initiation; the process of becoming the "hollow bone" and setting aside ones ego.  Additionally, learning and practicing several of the shamanic healing methods such as soul retrieval, and how to work wit death and dying as well as extensive ceremony (including fire ceremonies) will be a part of this program.  This shamanic experience provides opportunities to build community with others who are in pursuit of a shamanic path for healing all beings, including the Earth.

This program requires prior experience in shamanic journey process, an application for admission, and a willingness to commit to a course of study.

SHAMANIC ART

co-led by Patsea Cobb, Artist and Art Teacher

The Barn, Topsham, Maine (www.thebarntopsham.com)

In this weekend workshop we will be working with water colors and other at media to explore how our right brain can create meaningful images that come from our shamanic non-ordinary reality.  We will do several journeys for direction and guidance regarding an issue or question around which our work will focus.  Then with Patsea as our guide we will create several art pieces accessed while in a trance-like state of consciousness.

There will be ample time for drumming, dancing, moving, singing, and celebrating the artist within us.  An expression of gratitude to our helping spirits for their presence in our lives will inform the nature of our work together.

Prerequisite:  Basic Shamanic Journeying Skills

Tuition:   $180 & Materials Fee
