2011 SHAMANIC APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM E-mail

BEGINS January 2011

The Barn, Topsham, Maine

For those who want to explore more advanced shamanic healing, ceremonies and initiations.

This is the fourth Apprenticeship Program of its kind, sponsored by The Center For Earth Light Healing and taught by Dory Cote (see bio in "about us"on this website) Numerous students have completed prior programs and are doing excellent shamanic work in the world. See testimonials on this website, or ask Dory for the names of graduate students who will be happy to talk with you.

In this one-year experience you will learn the shamanic healing practices of extraction, soul retrieval, working with those who are dying or who are deceased, power animal retrievals, Sandra Ingerman's Medicine for the Earth and How to Thrive in Chaning Times and you will participate in several ceremonies including fire ceremonies, dances and other rituals and initiations.

This is an experiential year with deep work on a personal and global basis. Shamanism is not about techniques, and although we will teach numerous global shamanic healing methods, this year is truly about who you "become" and not what you do.

Some students go on to become shamanic practitioners, while many apply their experience in a variety of unique and creative ways.

A personal interview with Dory is required prior to acceptance into this program.

This is a non-residential program which allows us to keep the costs down. If you are travelling from some distance we can make recommendations for inexpensive overnight housing nearby.

If you are interested, please contact Dory for an application and an appointment for a personal interview.

Meeting dates will be posted in September 2010.

TUITION: $2000 (payable in 8 installments, at each meeting, of $250each)

Shamanic Retreat E-mail

SHAMANIC RETREAT: BORESTONE MOUNTAIN SANCTUARY

MAINE

JULY 22/25, 2010

for 3 days and 3 nights of immersion in the shamanic experience of being one with nature.

Borestone Mountain Sanctuary is owned and operated by the the Maine Audubon Society and is one of Maine's little-known hideaways on sacred land.   I have rented the lodges and private space for these 3 days, and can accommodate 20 people maximum.

The private lodges are only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicle followed by a short boat trip across one of the 2 lakes on which we will retreat.   It is completely private, pristine, cared for with the utmost of respect, and it is the perfect place for a shamanic gathering. We will be greeted by an Audubon staff person who will shuttle us to our private lodging by jeep and then by boat, and the staff person will be available to orient us to the facility.

If you are from out of state...this is a perfect adjunct to vacation time in the beautiful State of Maine!!

Lodging is comfortable, but rustic, with all bedding supplied.  We will prepare our own wholesome and scrumptious meals in the Dining Hall.  I will do all the shopping and meal planning.

There will be a 'loosely' structured program which will include a couple of journeys each day on questions relating to the health of our planet and how we as shamanic practitioners can be of service to the spirits of nature and the Earth as a whole.  We will perform several ceremonies on the lakes and have fire ceremonies each evening.   Special discussion topics and 'shamanic games' will be a part of our mealtimes.   There will be quiet time for solitary reflection, time to paint, draw, day-dream, canoe, kayak, swim, hike (solo or with the group), sing, drum, dance, and rest.

Retreat includes the following:
  • 3 nights lodging (bedding included)
  • 10 wholesome, hearty meals
  • Transportation from the Visitors Center to the Lodges
  • Use of all the facility's amenities including canoes & kayaks
  • 3 days of a facilitated Shamanic Retreat Program with ample solitary time
  • Shamanic Games, Ceremonies & Celebration

Pricing is as follows, per person:

  • $390 (shared room with 3 or 4 per room..limited availability)

  • $425 (double room) shared with one other person

  • $450 (single room)

A $120 deposit is due at registration, and the balance is due 30 days prior to the Retreat.

At registration, details will be provided regarding directions, what to bring, and an opportunity to discuss food concerns and dietary restrictions.  Every effort will be made to accommodate your needs.

Please visit Audubon's website for further details about this amazing Sanctuary. Many visitors say that the view from the top of Borestone rivals that atop Mt. Katahdin, and it is largely unknown.   A gem!

EMBRACING THE DARKNESS

TWO OFFERINGS

December 13, 2009 @ The Barn, Topsham, ME

& again

December 20, 2009 @ The Yurt/Elemental Spirits, Jefferson, ME

This 3 1/2 hour event celebrates the return of the Sun and honors the Spirit of Darkness. We explore the ways our ancestors might have experienced (with exhilliration) the evidence of the suns return, and at the same time we gather in a sacred ceremony of the Sami people to hear from the oracle of the Spirit of the Darkness who provides us with powerful healing energies.

This ceremony incorporates a lot of singing, dancing and ringing of bells. We "climb the tree" to visit with the Spirit of the Sun to ask for guidance for the coming year.

Experience with shamanic journeying is not required for attendance at this workshop. Prior registration IS required. Directions to each of the sites will be provided upon registration for one of these events.

Tuition: $30.00

POWER DANCE & FIRE CEREMONY

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

6 to 10 p.m.

The Barn, Topsham, ME

The Power Dance is an indigenous dance where the participants seek being a pure "channel" of power and inspiration directly from the Spirits and carry a message from them through song and dance. It is a dance of POWER, thus the name. The original intent of the Power Dance was to cure those who suffer from addiction to alcohol, as well as to cure other illnesses. It is also now considered an initiatory rite of passage for those seeking a shamanic way of life.

Dory Cote will lead the Power Dance & Fire Ceremony

Prerequisite: Knowledge of the shamanic journey process

Donation: $30

Limited to 25 participants

Trance Dancing under the Full Moon E-mail

TRANCE DANCING UNDER THE FULL MOON

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

6 to 10 p.m.

The Barn, Topsham, ME

The tradition of dancing with repetitive drum and other sounds and motions is an ancient way of developing a deep trancestate to enable transcendence for the dancer, as well as for the dancer to be channeling pure healing energy for the benefit of others.

On this Full Moon night in July we will gather around a fire where we will begin our trance dancing experience. For safe purposes we will move indoors to a comfortable (and level) floor where we will perform the Skeleton Dance and the Shaman's Walk.

Past participants in Trance Dancing workshops have been inspired, elated, "caracked open" and have experienced deep and life changing visiions.

Come join us for a night to remember. Live drumming will be provided by experienced, professional drummers. Bring your own drum to join in the beat!

Dory Cote will lead this workshop and the dancing.

Donation: $30

Register NOW!!!

Participation limited to 20 dancers

Two-Year Program Testimonial
Dory is a great teacher! She is also a gifted shamanic healer, with plenty of experience to draw upon in her class work. She is that rare combination of gifted and humble that makes her a wise and valuable spiritual guide. She created a safe space in which to do deep spikritual work that is relevant and meaningful. At the same time there was plenty of fun and laughter in her classes. I feel blessed that I was called to study with Dory.

Testimonial: Male Student
This shamanic program with Dory opened my life and my soul. I am no longer able to look at life, to interact with life, without having awareness of the surrounding spirits. I live with a totally new level of peace. There are no words to describe how Dory and this program have changed my life. I will forever be indebted.

Testimonial: Ongoing Student
I have experienced profound truth to my core with this training. I had no idea that the practice of shamanism would wake me up to this degree. Dory is a grounded teacher and provides a safe environment for exploring this truly remarkable world.

Testimonial: Current Student
My experience in my first year of training in Shamanic Healing with Dory has been transformational. In the beginning I thought of shamanism as an activity or pursuit. As the year progressed, shamanism became totally integrated in my every day life. It has helped me to understand, and appreciate, myself and thrive in a challenging world.

Testimonial: Former Student
The Two Year Apprenticeship Program was life changing for me. I recall with joy the days we spent together and the wonderful spirits I met. The shamanic methods I learned enable me to work in cooperation with the Spirit of the Earth and the wondrous beings we live among. You (Dory) taught me lessons in love and healing that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you.
