VISION QUEST 2009 E-mail

September 25, 26, 27, 2009

Big Wilson Stream, Maine

Led by:

Dory Cote, Shamanic Teacher

Alexandra Conover, Wilderness Guide

Kermit Bennett, Preparation of Sacred Space & Fire Keeper

Come to the wilderness to seek a Vision! Are you making changes in your life, but don't have the time to think about what direction you should pursue? Are you frustrated by all the changes that are already happening in your life but lack the time to process them? Do you have a sense that "change is a comin" and you want to know more about what this change might entail? Or, do you want to have some quiet time to commune with Spirit and "cry for a vision" that will be your guiding post for the next period of time?"

Any of those are solid reasons for pursuing a Vision Quest. We are so pleased to be presenting these 3 days on sacred, special, land on the Big Wilson Stream in Elliotsville, Maine. There are well over 200 private acres of land to explore and settle onto. You will seek your own space to make camp after appropriate preparation and instruction from Alexandra, our Wilderness Guide.

The Big Wilson Stream is a sacred, somewhat undiscovered, water in the old woods where wildlife abounds and unusual flora, fungus and trees live in harmony together. Dory spent 2 days with Alexandra and Kermit on this sacred land before deciding that this was "the place" for us. You won't be disappointed!!

Kermit will prepare a Base Camp for us where we will meet at Noon on Friday, the 25th of September. Here we will spend a couple of hours with Alexandra who will instruct you in how to set up your personal vision space safely, how to identify wild things around you (animals and plants), how to deal with various weather conditions, animals, and other outdoor events. She will issue your personal basket pack, netting, tarp, and other minimal necessities for your journey into the wilderness.

After striking out on your own to find & mark your own personal vision spot, you will return to the Base Camp for a Fire Ceremony and initiatory preparation by Dory Cote. We will spend the night near the Base Camp in prayer, dancing, meditation and light slumber. You will leave at dawn to spend two days at your own personal Vision space by the Big Wilson Stream. You will return from your Vision Quest in time for a home made, outdoor cooked and served, big brunch prepared by Dory, Alexandra and Kermit to break your fast.

The Vision Quest experience includes a one-hour preparatory, private session with Dory prior to the dates of the Vision Quest.

The Audobon Society's Borestone Mountain Sanctuary is nearby for those who want to come a day early to climb the mountain where there are spectacular 360 degree views. There is nearby lodging, if you choose to add this day to your experience. You can access detials of Borestone Mountain and the climb, by going to Maine Audubon's website.

Through the combining of our special gifts, Dory, Alexandra and Kermit, ensure that you will have a safe and meaningful experience. We will limit participation to 10.

Fee includes all gear, (except sleeping bag), all teachings, fire ceremony and fast-breaking meal

Fee: $390 if received in full before August 15th

$450 if received after August 15th

CHILDREN'S SHAMANIC ARTS SUMMER CAMP E-mail

July 14, 15, 16, 2009

Brunswick, ME

9:30 to 3:30

Ages 6 to 10

Calling all children who have a vivid imagination, want to have fun outdoors, and who are interested in drummining, dancing, singing, faerie houses, fire ceremonies, and more!

Dory Cote, Shamanic Healer & Teacher is joined by Susan Savell, Professional Singer/Songwriter in presenting this 3-day camp for children ages 6 to 10.

We will explore what makes LIFE; does Spirit reside in all living things? Where do the fairies live? How do we talk with them? How do I make the scary things go away? Where is MY Spirit and how do I work with it to make my days happier? How can I help others? Who is my Power Animal and do I have more than one? Am I alone? Am I the only one who feels this way? How come all kids don't know about Power Animals? What is my Spirit Song and how do I find it?

We will spend as much time as possible outdoors communing with the Spirits of Nature and exploring the spirit life in all living things. Susan will lead the children in learning how to write their own songs and lead them in singing together.

We will do Fire Ceremonies to celebrate, create new beginnings & grieve the loss of our pets, friends, grandparents or anyone the children have "lost" through death or other circumstances.

Dory's talent in working with children is in allowing the children to express themselves and "lead" where the work needs to go for the good of the child. There will be a loosely structured program for each day, but one that serves the needs of the children in the moment.

References for Dory Cote & Susan Savell are available. Both have extensive experience in working with children. A 1/2 hour meeting with Dory with both a parent & the child will be required prior to the start date of Camp.

Space is limited to 10 children. So register early to secure your child's spot in the Camp.

Tuition: $100 for the three days!

Optional 4th day for making your own Drum! Inquire for details.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SHAMANIC JOURNEY PROCESS E-mail

APRIL 19, 2009

The Barn

Topsham, Maine

Learn to find your Power Animal in the Lower World and your Spirit Helper in the Upper World by practicing the ancient ways of the shamans. The shamans of the world had unique ways of accessing information from the spirits and performing healings, ceremonies and divining information from other dimensions of reality.

Learn the ways of the shamans by following their path into the Lower World and the Upper World. We will learn how to perform Power Animal Retrievals for others and how to divine information for the purpose of being of service to others.

We meet in a Circle on sacred land and comfortable workshop space. Part of our time together is experiencing the ceremonies of the ancients by drumming, rattling, singing, dancing and creating a sacred altar together.

Dory Cote has many years of experience in teaching this workshop with people from varied cultural and spiritual backgrounds. Please contact Dory if you have any questions or would like to register for this powerful and enlightening weekend.

Two-Year Program Testimonial
Dory is a great teacher! She is also a gifted shamanic healer, with plenty of experience to draw upon in her class work. She is that rare combination of gifted and humble that makes her a wise and valuable spiritual guide. She created a safe space in which to do deep spikritual work that is relevant and meaningful. At the same time there was plenty of fun and laughter in her classes. I feel blessed that I was called to study with Dory.

Testimonial: Male Student
This shamanic program with Dory opened my life and my soul. I am no longer able to look at life, to interact with life, without having awareness of the surrounding spirits. I live with a totally new level of peace. There are no words to describe how Dory and this program have changed my life. I will forever be indebted.

Testimonial: Ongoing Student
I have experienced profound truth to my core with this training. I had no idea that the practice of shamanism would wake me up to this degree. Dory is a grounded teacher and provides a safe environment for exploring this truly remarkable world.

Testimonial: Current Student
My experience in my first year of training in Shamanic Healing with Dory has been transformational. In the beginning I thought of shamanism as an activity or pursuit. As the year progressed, shamanism became totally integrated in my every day life. It has helped me to understand, and appreciate, myself and thrive in a challenging world.

Testimonial: Former Student
The Two Year Apprenticeship Program was life changing for me. I recall with joy the days we spent together and the wonderful spirits I met. The shamanic methods I learned enable me to work in cooperation with the Spirit of the Earth and the wondrous beings we live among. You (Dory) taught me lessons in love and healing that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you.
